Established in 1920, South African Rand Refinery is the largest integrated single-site precious metals refining and smelting complex in the world.

Rand Refinery became world-wide known company, when it is made responsible for the manufacture, order taking and delivery of the gold Kruggerand coins in 1967.

1 Troy ounce gold Kruggerand became the first mass investment coin for private individuals. More than 60 000 000 different sizes of these coins were sold worldwide. In the 1980's these coins were counted for 90% of all private gold market.

Since 2018 Rand Refinery is minting and distributing silver 1 Troy ounce silver coins in BU quality.
